Colleagues

Nicole Petrov, MD
Dr. Nicole Petrov received her medical degree from Queen’s University. She then completed her family medicine residency training at Queens University. Nicole and her husband are both practising family Physicians in Fergus.

Why Fergus/Elora?"
When my husband and I completed our medical training we were looking to locate to a family doc run hospital where we could do both hospital work and have a practice. We also wanted to find a “family oriented” community where our kids have a wide-variety of extra curricular activity choices. Fergus was able to fulfill all of our needs. We work with a fun, vibrant group of doctors. Our kids attend a fabulous school and enjoy many of the activities the area has to offer!

Rob Norrie, MD

Dr. Rob Norrie received his medical degree at McMaster University in 2003. He continued at McMaster where he completed his residency training in Rural Family Medicine. However, most of this training occurred in Fergus and in some of the surrounding hospitals. During those 18 months Rob experienced first hand all scope of medicine that was available in Elora and Fergus and the decision to remain to practice was an easy one.

Why Fergus/Elora?
"The physician group is a uniquely collegial and supportive group." explains Norrie. "The care they provide for their patients is exceptional. I moved to Fergus as a family of three and now live in Elora with a growing family of five. The area proves to be a wonderful place to explore and raise a family."

Amanda Wagler, MD

Dr. Amanda Wagler grew up near New Hamburg Ontario. She completed an undergraduate degree in kinesiology at McMaster University in Hamilton. Dr. Wagler then went on to complete her medical training at McMaster. She completed a family medicine rotation in Fergus as part of her medical training and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. After completing her Rural Family Medicine residency through the University of Calgary in Southern Alberta, she decided to return to Ontario.

Why Fergus/Elora?
"I love the community!" states Dr. Wagler. "I am able to work close to home and my husband is able to easily travel to a larger urban city for work. My office is located directly across the street from the hospital which is very convenient for me when I am delivering babies. The Medical Staff were supportive and welcoming to me when I arrived in the community which made the transition to practice easy."

Hassanali Kapasi, MD

Dr. Kapasi received his medical degree from Ottawa University. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Ottawa and Anaesthesia Fellowship at Queens University. Dr. Kapasi joined Groves Memorial Community Hospital staff in April 2009.

Why Fergus/Elora?
"Fergus has it all - a rural practice, with the ability to provide primary care in an office, as well as providing Emergency Room and anesthesia coverage," states Dr. Kapasi. "The docs and hospital staff are great here - plus our office is next to Pizza Pizza!"

Dr. Kapasi would like to extend special thanks to Dr. John Stickney for his hospitality and help with his transition to practice.
