Business Environment

The Town of Minto is home to a wide variety of successful businesses, from agriculture and manufacturing to telecommunications, Minto can support almost any industry. Located in Clifford, Wightman Telecom provides Fibre to the Home in two of our urban centres and has garnered Minto the title of having the fastest internet service in Canada (Ookla Net Metrics). Our largest employer is TG Minto, an automotive parts supplier to Toyota, located in Palmerston and employing 500 people. Numerous farms and farm-related industries also call Minto home.

We are a small but progressive municipality and were recognized in 2008 with an Ontario Economic Development Award for Outstanding Response to Investment Attraction

The Township of Mapleton is experiencing a rapid growth in both residential and industrial development. The strategic location of Mapleton (40 kilometers to Guelph, 45 kilometers to Waterloo) and availability of industrial land, lends itself to opportunities for companies wishing to locate in rural Ontario. With an increasing population and a number of large residential subdivisions underway in Drayton, Mapleton Township is the ideal community for industrial and economic growth.

The Township's farming industry forms an integral part of one of Ontario's most productive farming communities. Several farm related industries located throughout the Township support the farming community and its needs. In addition, several Mennonite furniture and woodworking shops exist that draw customers from all over Ontario.
