Palmerston and District Hospital (PDH) is a rural, acute-care facility providing a wide range of services. PDH serves a local and regional population of over 18,355 and treats over 15,000 people annually. The hospital currently operates 15 beds, with over 95 staff. The Emergency Department, open 24 hours a day, provides service to approximately 10,000 patients annually. Medical staff includes six family physicians, one GP/Anesth and are supported by several visiting specialists. Coverage for Emergency, Obstetrics, and Anesthesia is provided through existing family doctors with specialized preparation.
